For service, I went to St. James again on Tuesday February 3, 2020. I knew that I had to go back to talk with Beth again. When I walked in, the first thing I asked was, “Where is Beth?” They told me exactly where she was and that she had been waiting to see me again. I was filled with so much joy. When I was walking to meet her I got a little nervous. Even though she brought comfort to me emotions, I was still nervous to see her again. We sat down together at a table in the main area. We talked for about two hours. Never an awkward moment. We laughed. We even got to know each other a little more.
This past week I have been feeling really down and needed someone to tell me that everything was going to be okay. I found out this past week that my friend that I have known my entire life has eye cancer. They have to remove her eye and she has to go through chemo. After hearing this news, I needed to talk to someone. I did not know how to cope with this information. Beth made me happy. She explained to me that everything happens for a reason. Beth told me, ” God has a plan for everyone and no matter how hard it is to accept that, you have to keep your faith strong.” After hearing these words, Beth became my safe place. I know now that she can calm me down in any situation I tell her about and she will always be there to listen. I now know where my safe place is, and I am so thankful to have met someone like Beth.
