Questionnaire on Research Tools

My most recent source comes from “Cognitive Rehabilitation for Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease: Developing and Piloting an External Aids Treatment Program.” It is written by Spencer, Kristie A.Paul, JenniferBrown, Katherine A.Ellerbrock, TaylorSohlberg, McKay Moore in February 2020. It was published from American Journal of Speech Language Pathology. My oldest source comes from “Parkinson’s Disease, 1858.” It was written by Nicholas Bakalar in August 2010. It was published by The New York Times. The source that comes from the most expertise is “Effects of an Intensive exercised-based swallowing program for persons with Parkinson;s Disease and complex medical history: a single case.” It is written by Jocelyn Jenks and Laura Pitts in August 2019. It is published from CINAHL.

A lot of my sources have information about Parkinson’s and dealing with the progression of it. Almost all sources said that they do not know if it is a mental aspect or if the medication only works on certain types of people. Out of all of the case studies, many had amazing results with those of old age. Some sources told me about the affects of dopamine. The sources explained how it can be lower levels or higher depending on the patient.

Other sources told me about at home treatments that had good results. The patients came up with certain goals they wanted with using implement external aids. These aids allowed them to be in a home environment instead of doing this case study in a hospital or lab. It was strange to me that I did not see many sources with answers. A lot of my sources were unknown about certain medications and that there is not specific cure to Parkinson’s disease.

I can see that everyone is not on the same page about a “cure.” Even if there isn’t one, not one source could say if the medication could work on every patient or not. Many were case studies that worked on that group of patients. But looking at the mass of people affected by this disease, no one could give a straight forward answer for every person.
