The “newsworthy” information in this source is about the progression of Parkinson’s disease for those of older age. The “news makers” in this source are doctors who specify in neurology. They are mostly doing this study with large groups of people in a lab, or looking at the statistics of patients in the past. The current research of this source is how to slow down the process of this disease. The doctors are seeing what medications work, or if it is all mentally what the patient thinks. There have been some instances where the patient receives a certain medication and it does not work because the patient does not have the right mind set. There are other instances where the patient believes the medication will work and it does. The concern in this article is the mental state of the patient. If a patient is not in the correct head space then the medication might not work. It is becoming a mystery to the doctors. Moving forward with research, the doctors will continue to study the effects of the brain along with Parkinson’s disease. They hope for future discoveries that the mind will overcome the matter and the patients own self can help slow down the process if this disease.
